New Photos
Well, it's been a good summer and I have a few new photos to share. We took a trip to Sitka, Alaska and if you have never been, I highly recommend it. We went for Halloween and it is a really fun town. They blocked off the Main street so that all of the kids and thier families could trick or treat through all of the businesses. We went whale watching and I have never seen so many or seen them so close. Our captain was Jim Phillips and his boat was called the Annahootz. It is a small boat that the whales are not affaid of and they swam all around us. It was crazy.
The next day we saw some well fed and very sleepy brown bears that were ready for their big winter sleep. Got some great closeups of them.
Trip to New Mexico
We went to visit my family in Las Cruces, New Mexico for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. My mom told us about this birding festival about 2 hours north of Las Cruces at a place called "Bosque del Apache", a wet land on the Rio Grand river where the Sandhill Cranes come for the winter. This is the same flock that passes through Palmer, Alaska in the summer along with the Snow Geese. I have never seen so many birds in one place in my life. It was truly amazing. I had to split up my animal gallery into two; one for Mammals and one for Birds. I hope you enjoy the new additions.
Keeno
| Welcome our new family member, Keeno. Keeno was an abused dog rescued from a neglectful musher who lost interest in his dogs and let them starve. He spent nearly a year in the recue shelter and about 3 months in a foster home until we found him. He is very sweet but shy and is still adjusting to a stable home. He follows Fox everywhere he goes and loves to cuddle. He is 5 years old and we are glad to give him the good loving home he deserves. |

Last week we lost our wonderful best friend and family member Arrow. We adopted Arrow in 2005 but we never knew his age as he was rescued as a stray. He was the most loyal friend anyone could ever have. He was our protector, best friend and a loving gentle soul. To see a slide show of Arrows life click on the link below.
